Hi, I’m Laila.

I live in Miami, but I travel a lot with my family.

I like going to new places and noticing how things feel different — the air, the food, the sounds, the way people talk to each other.

Sometimes people call me Laila Pi.

I was born early — at 31 weeks and 4 days — and I was very small. I weighed 3 pounds and 14 ounces, and I stayed in room 314 at the hospital.

Pi became part of my name that way.

I also like that pi means something that goes on and on. It doesn’t end. I think that fits me, because I’m curious, I ask a lot of questions, and I like learning things that don’t have just one answer.

I also like carousels, hot chocolate, cats, and surprises.

I ask a lot of questions, especially “why?” Sometimes my questions turn into trips.

When I go somewhere new, I remember small things more than big ones. I like writing them down so I don’t forget.
